The main event of the Kawagoe Matsuri is the procession of dashi in the evening. After the procession, the dashi stop at various intersections around town. When two or more of the dashi meet at an intersection, they both stop to acknowledge each other by playing music and maneuvering around each other. As my friend Tim eloquently says "You Got Served".
The sound of taiko and flute put you in a festive mood.
The Kawagoe Matsuri is know for its dashi lighted with chochin lanterns. The glow of the chochin is quite a breathtaking sight.
