My idea of great vacation is not having to drive in traffic. Use local mass transportation and my feet. There is no better way to see a city then to walk. You are able to get beyond the tourist targetted sights and see how people live and often interact with the local people.
Above is a picture of my new friends in Kameoka in Kyoto. This is outside the Torroko (Open carriage train) station. These are tanuki. In the area tanuki are known for warding off bad spirits. In Japanese, Ta means bad and nuki means to extract or ward off.
Kameoka is located outside of the Arashiyama area. This "town" more like a village. A few shops, convenience store surrounded by rice paddies and fields. The valley is surrounded by lush green hills.
